Job Description

The School of Kinesiology at Ball State University is seeking part-time semester instructors who are qualified to teach face-to-face or online courses in one or more of the following disciplines: aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, physical fitness wellness, sport and exercise psychology, sports performance, biomechanics, athletic coaching education, exercise physiology, or athletic training.

The School of Kinesiology is currently one of six academic units in the College

Of Health at Ball State University. The School is housed in the Health and Physical Activity (HP) complex on the Ball State University campus. We are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for students, advancing the knowledge base of our disciplines through research, and serving the university, profession, and community. Currently, there are nearly

800 undergraduate students enrolled in the five undergraduate majors, 90 minors, and nearly 140 graduate students enrolled in one of eight graduate programs.

Position Function:

  • Teach one to three credit hour courses.
  • Create a standardized syllabus.
  • Be available to students.
  • Manage Canvas course site and submit grades.

Also, under the direction of the Program Coordinator:

  • Develop and manage syllabus materials. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for selecting and compiling tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to course learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the Program Coordinator. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for reviewing any textbook and other courseware changes with the Program Coordinator and other full-time faculty teaching the course.
  • Facilitate class instruction. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching the assigned class in accordance with learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

For undergraduate classes, earned master’s degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment in aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, wellness, kinesiology, health education, or closely related field (must have a minimum of 18 credit- hours of graduate courses in the relevant discipline).

For graduate classes, must have earned a terminal degree by time of appointment.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in a college setting.

Prior work experience in respective field of expertise.
