Under the general supervision of the Division Commander of Field Services, the Field Sergeant is responsible for the direct and indirect supervision of all aspects of field operations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing. Knowledge of law enforcement methods, traffic control and arrest safety procedures. Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and to determine a proper course of action to be taken. Maintains a safe work environment and communicates with the University community in a civil manner.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a high school diploma and successful completion of a P.O.S.T. certified training program, including a Basic Course Certificate and three (3) or more years of active law enforcement experience required, five (5) or more years preferred. Completion of a P.O.S.T Supervisory Program is desirable or must be completed within one year of appointment. Must meet employment requirements established by P.O.S.T and state law.

CA Driver's License required.
The hiring range for this position is $8,851 to $9,924, commensurate with experience. The salary range for this classification is $6,429 to $9,924 per month.
