Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics

We seek candidates with a doctorate in nutrition sciences or related discipline with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to nutrition in chronic diseases, obesity, nutrition and precision nutrition, and genetics. Candidates should be skilled in teaching nutrition science based courses to students with a range of aptitude. Online teaching experience is desirable. Responsibilities will include developing curriculum, developing courses, teaching graduate and undergraduate students, developing and maintaining a research program, mentoring students in research, and service to the university and profession. Faculty will contribute to a graduate Dietetics and Nutrition program. Research experience in laboratory or clinical environments is desirable.

Faculty will be expected to participate in the department’s, college’s, and university’s lifelong learning opportunities when available and may be assigned teaching responsibility in this area as part of their overall responsibilities.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate or be ABD with all degree requirements to be completed by the time of appointment. Candidates should also have teaching or teaching assistant experience and a beginning track record in scholarship with potential for funding. We seek candidates able to contribute to interdisciplinary team science. Faculty are expected to work on campus to engage with students, colleagues, and community.

3. Mentoring students in nutrition research particularly clinical or laboratory research
4. Service to the university and profession
5. Developing curriculum
6. Contribute to a graduate Nutrition and Dietetics program.
7. Contribute to an undergraduate Dietetics program.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in nutrition sciences or related discipline or be ABD with all degree requirements to be completed by by the time of appointment. Relevant professional experience in nutrition sciences. Evidence of ongoing or established scholarship. Evidence of ability to mentor or have mentored students. Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate students. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in nutrition sciences area. Conduct nutrition research related to chronic diseases, obesity, and precision nutrition, and genetics. Strong interest in interdisciplinary research. Existing external funding or potential for external funding. Experience in curriculum development. Experience in online teaching. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds. Active participation in professional organizations in the discipline. Ability to promote collegiality in the professional setting.
