Job Summary

Under the immediate supervision of the Supervising Automotive/Equipment Mechanic, provides a full range of skilled automotive repair work.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of skilled automotive I equipment repair.
  • Performs tune-ups and electrical system servicing.
  • fuel delivery system and cooling system service and repairs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of automotive mechanics including electrical systems, brakes and engine overhauls. Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance, adjustment, and repair of automotive engines and equipment accessories. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Thorough knowledge of hydraulic systems diagnostic and repairs. Follows all University and department policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to perform arithmetic computations when required. Ability to diagnose malfunctions and do a variety of mechanical and electrical system overhaul. Ability to estimate the time and cost of repairs. Ability to operate and maintain shop equipment. Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

Equivalent to journey-level training and experience as an automotive and/or equipment mechanic.
Licenses / Certificates

CA Driver's License required.

A.S.E. certified -preferred.

Compensation

The salary range for this classification is $5,402 to $6,904 per month.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
