Job Summary
Under general direction, the Registered Dietitian develops and implements programs designed to improve the diet and nutrition of students and the campus community through changes in dietary practices; develops and provides educational and consultative services to students in nutrition, diet, weight management, and food choices; and provides education and clinical consultation for staff of the Student Health Services. Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs outpatient nutrition counseling sessions, including assessment, education, medical nutrition therapy (prescription of food and supplements), monitoring, and evaluation.
- Coordinates treatment of and education in eating disorders, disordered eating, and intuitive eating.
- Participates in regular evaluation of nutrition programs and procedures. Provides clinical consultation, in-services, and education for SHS staff, including peer educator mentorship.
- Participate in SHS staff meeting, committees, and participate in AAAHC accreditation activities.

General computer literacy for health promotion and research. Ability to effectively and sensitively interact in a culturally and ethnically diverse university community. Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with co-workers, staff, and departmental staff. Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position. Ability to consistently be present at job/work. Experience with eating disorder diagnosis, treatment, and management.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a program approved and accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The RD credential also requires completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited pre-professional experience program. Master's degree and at least 2 years previous nutrition counseling preferred. Possess 3-5 years of experience to perform the assigned duties, highly preferred.
Licenses / Certificates
Possess and maintain certification as a Registered Dietitian as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Possess CA driver's license or be eligible to obtain one for accreditation purposes.

Time Base
Hourly/intermittent on call temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
