Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of the Career Development Center and lead by the Assistant Director of Graduate Business Career Services, the incumbent builds partnerships between the university and external communities (business, the public sector and not-for-profit entities) emphasizing development and marketing to expand internship and full-time opportunities for graduate business students from all identities and backgrounds. This position also provides advising and coaching to students and alumni in all aspects of career exploration, decision-making and job search.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational, program development and communication skills, creative thinking/reasoning abilities and demonstrated competency to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail. Experience in developing and facilitating workshops and making presentations. Knowledge of current employment trends and salary structures; student development and counseling theories; and career decision-making and job search processes. Experience in relationship building with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with employers and alumni groups. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the University, alumni, other constituents, and the public. Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.
High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. Demonstrated experience identifying, analyzing and creating marketing and promotional activities and campaigns. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and collaboratively, and to foster teamwork and resourcefulness. Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to be persuasive. Active in professional organizations, experience with diverse populations. Familiarity with suite of Microsoft tools including Power Point, Excel and Word; demonstrated experience using survey analysis tools and related databases, including Access. Knowledge of uses of Career Services Management Systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint on a PC Computer.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
- Two years' professional experience in student service program, human resources, event planning or related field preferred.
This position is required to operate a University Vehicle. A valid CA Driver License required.

The salary range for this classification is $4,304 to $6,120 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
