International Student Advisor

Ball State University

The Rinker Center for Global Affairs invites applications for an International Student Advisor. This position will provide support for the richly diverse population of international students here at Ball State University and work to create a dynamic, supportive environment in which these students can find a sense of community, feel supported in their academic programs of study, and have a fully realized cultural, social, and educational experience here during their time with us.

Position Function: Advise international students, visiting scholars, faculty, staff, and their dependents on immigration rules and regulations; maintain relevant immigrant data on current faculty and staff; develop, plan and implement activities that promote internationalization on campus and in the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of experience in higher education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills’
  • Excellent personal computer skills.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of F and J visa immigration regulations.
  • At least one year experience as Designated School Official (DSO).
  • Work experience in a large, public university.
  • Skills as a trainer.
  • Knowledge of SEVIS Batch Software (SUNAPSIS).
