The Assistant Director for Living Learning Programs oversees the creation and support of our living-learning communities. This team member must be able to build strong partnerships and collaborations with our academic, community, and corporate partners in ways that cultivate cutting edge living-learning programs that align with and contribute towards our educational priority and learning goals. This person will utilize a framework of equity and inclusion in all aspects of their day-to-day work and support the success of our residential students. Position Function: In collaboration with the Senior Associate Director for Residential Learning, oversee the creation and support of living-learning communities; determine interest in particular learning communities and work closely with other university faculty and staff members to successfully implement and sustain such programs; work closely with other Housing and Residence Life staff to provide services to enhance residents’ academic and social success through academic or theme-based residential learning communities; produce annual plans and budgets for each residential learning community and coordinate the realization of such plans with appropriate residence hall staff and academic units.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree by date of appointment from an accredited institution. Over four years of post-master’s experience in Housing and Residence Life or experience with residential learning communities in higher education.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with college freshmen and understanding of student development and issues related to retention. Experience with a residential curriculum. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and planning skills; strong understanding and commitment to learning communities and higher education.
