Job Summary
Under the supervision of a physician, Physician Assistant incumbent performs medical diagnostic and treatment activities in the fields of primary care/reproductive health and performs minor surgical care for California State University Long Beach (CSULB) students. Incumbent enthusiastically supports the University's strong commitment to the academic success of all of our students, including students of color, students with disabilities, students who are first generation to college, veterans, students, and to offer CSULB students a rich variety of expertise, perspectives, and ways of knowing and learning the
quality of campus life.

- Participates in SHS committees, special projects, work related activities
Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with co-workers, staff, and departmental staff. Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position. Ability to consistently be present at job/work. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with university students and effectively convey medical information.
Skillful and perceptive ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, related disciplines, and the University. Adhere to professional standards, all policies, clinician protocols and regulations established by Student Health Services. Provides high-quality care services in accordance with the principles of professional practice and ethical conduct. Occasional coverage outside usual and customary SHS hours. Complies with HIPAA Health Care Privacy and Security Law. Complies with SHS policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to an academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university-based physician assistant medical training program, and sufficient experience to independently perform the scope of practice identified for the position required.
Licenses / Certificates
- CA Driver's License preferred.
- National certification preferred.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- Possession of a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of California.
- Possess and maintains valid CPR certification.
- If delegated authority to transmit medications, incumbents must possess and maintain a valid California transmitting number and a valid DEA number and certificate required.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. 11/12 month pay plan.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Due to the nature of this position, current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
