Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISS) and in close collaboration with the CIE staff, the International Programs Coordinator supports the daily operations of the ISS office. Front office operational duties include efficient and friendly communication of information to all international students and visitors, coordinating the student health insurance program and enrollment, responding to inquiries via email, telephone, and in-person, and supervision, scheduling, and training of student assistants and advisor appointments as needed. Clerical duties include data entry; processing student requests for letters; issuing and maintaining SEVIS records as a Designated School Official (DSO) and batching as needed; maintaining confidential student files; and coordinating ISS projects as assigned by the Director.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute daily CIE-ISS office support including customer service and operations.
  • Coordinate in-person and virtual front office traffic for drop-ins and appointments (e.g., notification to advisors on changes and cancellations, office closures, etc.).
  • Answer inquiries via email, phone and in-person regarding general visa information, health insurance, workshop schedules, campus resources, etc.
  • Provide clerical support for International Student and Scholar Services office including DSO duties, management of the health insurance program for international students.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Functional knowledge of and skills of standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Experience organizing programs and events. Expertise in Microsoft Office products and complex database systems. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to communicate with people in a professional and effective manner. Ability to work independently with only general guidance and direction, set priorities, and assume full responsibility of completion of assignments. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. Understands issues from a broad perspective in order to solve problems and resolve conflicts. Ability to supervise others; exercise tact, courtesy, alertness and good judgment responding to others. Organizational, interpersonal and inter-cultural communication skills are very important in this position since the incumbent will come in contact and must work with every department within CPIE and many campus departments and interact with international students and faculty. Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required. CA Driver License is preferred

Compensation
The salary range for this classification is $3,276 to $5,148 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
