Educational and Experience Requirement Earned Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Board certification in specialty by a college of either the AOA or the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). A record of high quality performance as an educator, evidence of scholarly achievement, and ability in administration at the college or university level. Evidence of experience with medical students, clerkships, and/or graduate medical education. Must demonstrate human relations and managerial skills and an understanding of disciplines which comprise the College.
Nature & Purpose of Position The Associate Dean is a critical member of the college’s administrative leadership team and participates in university-wide initiatives. The Associate Dean is expected to assist the Dean of the College in dealing with the needs of faculty, staff, and students of the College, and providing oversight, evaluation, and direction for college-wide initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Dean of the College with general administration, curriculum and instruction, accreditation efforts, evaluation and assessment, faculty matters, College organization, internal and external College communication, research activity, student matters, administration of scholarships, fiscal matters, and interacting with other colleges and divisions within the university. Additional responsibilities include supervisory responsibilities of all clinical activities in all four years of the medical school experience to include preparation for graduate medical education, and preparation of accreditation documents with attention to those standards that are specific to clinical areas including the creation of opportunities for Graduate Medical Education (GME) for graduating students. The primary emphasis for the clinical Dean will be building relationships with potential clinical partners for access to clerkship training and potential residency opportunities. general administration, curriculum and instruction, accreditation efforts, evaluation and assessment, and faculty matters. The Associate Dean will also assist the Dean in the governance of the College of Osteopathic Medicine in terms of college organization, internal and external College communication, research activity, student matters, administration of scholarships, fiscal matters, and interacting with other colleges and divisions within the university. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications As required to discharge duties effectively and efficiently. The position will require some travel.
