Job Description

We invite applications for a Nontenure Faculty member to serve as an instructor and undergraduate Dietetics Program Director in the Department of Nutrition and Health Science and to join us in preparing today’s public health and health services workforce. This is a one year contract faculty opportunity.

We seek faculty candidates with a master’s degree or higher in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or other related discipline who have held the registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) credential for at least 3 years at the time of appointment. Successful candidates should have good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially, and be skilled in developing and teaching dietetics and nutrition science courses to students with a range of aptitude. Online teaching experience is also desirable as is experience in curriculum development and assessment and advanced certification in nutrition support. Responsibilities will include serving as the Didactic Program in Dietetics Program Director providing leadership for our ACEND-accredited undergraduate Dietetics program, overseeing data collection for accreditation and preparing accreditation reports, developing and teaching undergraduate courses, and other service to the university, community, and profession. This faculty member will also contribute to student recruitment activities and serve as a resource for internship and career advising.

Rank will be at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Lecturer level. For candidates who hold a doctorate in a related area, appointment can be considered at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor rank. Successful candidates are expected to work on campus in Muncie to allow full engagement with students, department, college, and university colleagues, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree or doctorate in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or other related discipline from an accredited institution.
    2. At least one year of successful on-campus or online teaching at the university level among students with a range of aptitudes.
    3. Effective written communication skills.
    4. Effective oral communication skills.
    5. Held registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) credential for at least 3 years by the time of appointment (August 19, 2022).

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. More than 1 year of successful campus or online university teaching experience
  2. More than 1 year of professional health-related experience
  3. Experience with academic program accreditation, specifically ACEND
  4. Experience in curriculum development.
  5. Experience in curriculum assessment.
  6. Hold advanced certification in nutrition support
