Job Description

CONTRACT PERIOD: 10-month

POSITION AVAILABLE: August 1, 2022

JOB SUMMARY: Announcer for all Aggie home contests; assist with promotion and sponsorship of Aggie Athletics

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Announcer for home Aggie sporting events.
    1. Football game attendance is non-negotiable; must be present
    2. Must be present for at least 80% of all remaining home sporting events.
      1. Conference games preferred
      2. Must provide sufficient notice for missed games
  • Responsible for providing suitable replacement during absences
  1. Assist in the training and scheduling of play-by-play broadcasters to accompany the live video streaming of all home sporting events.
  2. Work closely with PTCI video crew in coordinating event coverage.
  3. Work with students interested in learning broadcasting skills.
  4. Make sure all home games have a voice.
  5. Offer commentary/emcee for non-sporting athletic events (i.e. Hall of Fame, Welcome Back Picnic, Special Fundraisers, Athletic Banquet, etc.).
  6. Assist with marketing, promotions, and sponsorships for Aggie Athletics.
  7. Work with local media outlets for promotions.
  8. Work with Campus Communications and Sports Information on marketing.
  9. Serve as a media contact for sports assigned by SID.
  10. Editing and printing game programs.
  11. Maintaining and updating the athletics web site (opsuaggies.com) and social media channels.
  12. Assisting with the production of video web casts, historical research, writing press releases, and publishing feature stories (video and written).
  13. Assist SID with management of student workers, game day tables, and press box crews.
  14. Assist SID with management of student workers, game day tables, and press box crews.
  15. Assist with set up of game day equipment.
  16. Assist in preparing game notes/programs, team media guides, and team photos.
  17. Help coordinate and supervise video stream of home contests and social media outlets associated with athletics.
  18. Available to work weekends, evenings, and potential holidays as dictated by the university's sports' schedules.
  19. Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  20. Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.
  21. Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible.
  22. Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and
  23. Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year for practice, games and recruiting.
  24. If applicable, be able to transport team to the contests, and be responsible for their well-being.
  25. Could be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
  26. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge of athletic contests
  2. Experience announcing athletic events or other broadcasting experience.
  3. Sponsorship and/or advertising sales experience.
  4. Excellent written/oral communication, as well as demonstrate strong organizational skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required. Previous successful announcing experience.
