Job Description

Join the Ball State University’s Office of Student Life in providing a dynamic co-curricular learning experience for students. We are excited to welcome an Assistant Director for First Year Transition and Leadership Programs. This position will oversee the Office of Student Life Welcome Week efforts, the Summer Bridge Program, and the Excellence in Leadership program. It includes the opportunity to directly supervise a Graduate Assistant. As part of the Student Life team, successful candidates will work collaboratively with their colleagues to support the learning, growth and development of students through student engagement while promoting students’ sense of belonging.

Position Function: Oversee and coordinate first year transition programming: Welcome Week, Student Organization Activity Fair, Cardinal Leadership and Service Seminar Summer Bridge Program. Plan and implement student leadership development experiences, programs, services and resources, including the Excellence in Leadership program, the leadership minor. Promote the success of student organizations and their leaders, and support the mission of the Office of Student Life and Division of Student Affairs activities and actively promote the Student Experience Record to students.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited university or college by the date of appointment. One year of related experience. Graduate assistant experience will count towards this requirement.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited university or college by the date of appointment in student affairs, college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field. One year of experience working with leadership development programs; in higher education settings with college students and student organizations.

Preferred Other: Skills in time management and meeting deadlines, attention to detail, exceptional customer service, planning, ability to execute a plan, leadership, excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills; creativity/vision.

Salary for this position: Minimum - $43,000
