POSITION: TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (PROFESSIONAL SERVICES SPECIALIST 3)

SALARY RANGE: P21 $56,893.23- $80,546.58

LOCATION: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

JOB SUMMARY: The Technology Support Technician provides technical support for instructional technology across the University’s classrooms and computer labs. This position focuses on the IT department’s instructional technology help desk support services including, but not limited to, classroom and lecture hall audio/visual technologies, computer lab hardware and software, student technology loaner program, mobile device and laptop support, and technology training. The successful candidate will work with faculty and staff members on the implementation of audio/visual and multimedia learning technologies. The position assists faculty and staff with resolving technology issues, maintains hardware and software, supports training initiatives, and assists with overall technology support operations of the IT department. The individual also assists with general help desk service requests for faculty and staff and performs other related duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains, monitors and supports learning and collaboration technologies in classrooms, computer labs and other learning spaces at the main campus as well as remote locations.
  • Installs/maintains smart and HyFlex technology in classrooms, lecture halls and auditoriums.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of audiovisual and multimedia technologies to support various modes of instruction (In Person, Hybrid, HyFlex).
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves technical issues in classrooms and computer labs including smart/interactive projectors, A/V switcher/controllers, document cameras, computers, printers, etc.
  • Performs Zoom administrator role
  • Trains/assists faculty in the use of classroom technology equipment; Assists faculty to set up classroom equipment and software (e.g., cameras, confidence monitor, microphone, interactive whiteboard, Zoom video conferencing software, lecture capture software, etc.); Plans and creates appropriate technology training materials, as needed.
  • Serves as liason to faculty regarding all classroom technology usage, training, and support.
  • Demonstrates the use of technology used in the classrooms, lecture halls, and labs.
  • Installs/configures software on desktops, laptops, and tablets in computer labs, classrooms, and offices.
  • Maintains departmental servers and applications.
  • Works with technology vendors to ensure state-of-the-art audio/visual technology for learning spaces.
  • Collaborates with other IT staff members on departmental and institution-wide projects.
  • Monitors Help Desk ticket system and proactively addresses support tickets.
  • Assists with other University help desk service calls, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Proficiency with audio/visual technologies including projection systems, audio systems, interactive displays, live event audio/visual support, and audio/visual design and development tools and systems
  • E xperience installing and supporting audio/visual equipment.
  • Experience with projection, sound engineering, live event audio visual support, and audio-visual technologies preferred.
  • Experience working with wiring and cabling.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows and Mac OS, and applications.
  • Excellent problem troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong orientation to customer service and excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the duties of the position.
