Job Description

The School of Music invites nominations and applications for a one-year, non-tenure track faculty position available 8/19/2022. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate studio voice, recruit and maintain a strong studio; maintain a national profile in performance and professional service; perform as a soloist and in faculty ensembles as needed; teach ancillary courses such as jazz and/or commercial music, diction, or other duties as assigned; advance students in academic matters; assist students in job and graduate school placement.

Faculty members are also expected to function as collaborative, innovative, inclusive and adaptive members of the College of Fine Arts community, both within and beyond one’s home unit. All College of Fine Arts faculty are expected to be quality teachers, productive in creative and/or scholarly work, engaged in public service activities, and contributors to the Ball State and Muncie communities and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed master’s degree in vocal performance.
  • A documented history of paid professional activity in voice performance.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the university level.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in vocal performance and/or strong performance/scholarly background as a requisite to serving on the university graduate faculty.
  • Soprano or mezzo-soprano voice preferred.
  • Language skills for performing in English, Italian, German, and French.
