Assistant Teaching Professor of Music (Orchestra)

The School of Music at Ball State University is seeking a one-year appointment beginning in August of 2022. The successful candidate will direct the Ball State Symphony Orchestra (BSSO) and manage all other aspects of the orchestra program. Additional duties include ancillary courses based on the qualifications of the candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will direct the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, manage the orchestra program, and teach courses in instrumental conducting. Additional duties include teaching ancillary courses based on the qualifications of the candidate and the needs of the program.

Faculty members are also expected to function as collaborative, innovative, inclusive and adaptive members of the College of Fine Arts community, both within and beyond one’s home unit. All College of Fine Arts faculty are expected to be quality teachers, productive in creative and/or scholarly work, engaged in public service activities, and contributors to the Ball State and Muncie communities and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Music.

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal Degree in Music (DMA, DA, or Ph. D.); Applied String Bass experience.
