Job Description

Ball State University’s Department of Special Education welcomes applications for an Assistant Lecturer or an Assistant Teaching Professor in Special Education. This is a one year contract faculty opportunity.

Description: One year contract faculty position available August 18, 2022. Major responsibilities include; teaching severe/multiple disabilities and intense interventions and other special education, participation in departmental and program area meetings. Service on departmental, college and university committees are required. This is a one year Academic Year contract.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach severe/multiple disabilities and intense interventions and other special education courses. Participate in departmental and program area faculty meetings. Maintain office hours during the week. Collaborate with other faculty in the department as appropriate. Other responsibilities as assigned by the department chairperson.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned master’s degree in special education from an accredited institution. At least two years of experience in schools working directly with students with disabilities.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in schools among students with severe/multiple disabilities and/or children with disabilities. Doctoral degree in special education. Active role in special education professional organizations. Successful college-level teaching experience. Experience with online course delivery technology. Strong interest in quality educator preparation programs for special education teachers. At least three years of experience in schools working directly with students with disabilities.
