Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Instruction

Primary Function:
Administers and supervises all instructional services and programs of the District with a focus on quality student learning and a commitment to student success. Administers and supervises the following instructional divisions:

    • Arts, Media, Business and Computer Science
    • Career, Technical, and Extended Education
    • Languages and Literature
    • Mathematics and the Natural and Health Sciences
    • Social & Behavioral Sciences.


Responsible for faculty Professional Development; provides educational leadership to all faculty and instructional staff; supports the values and implements the mission of the District; and ensures collegial decision-making in instructional planning and the development of related policies and procedures.

Salary: Starting step placement within the established salary schedule may be negotiable dependent upon education and experience. In addition, administrators that possess earned doctorates from accredited institutions are awarded an annual stipend of $1,598.01.Other fringe benefits: The District also provides this position with a $100 monthly cell phone stipend and a $500 monthly transportation allowance, for a gross amount of $600 per month. These stipends are not considered creditable compensation under CalPERS or CalSTRS.

Benefits: Full-time employees receive fully-paid benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents; life, disability, and long-term care insurance; and sick leave, vacation and paid holidays. Estimated maximum value of these employer-paid benefits is approximately $25,426 annually. All full-time educational administrators are enrolled in CalSTRS (California State Teachers Retirement System).

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
    • Experience: Five years of full-time administrative experience in higher education.
    • NOTE: For work experience, a “year” is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months.

AND
  • Education: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service.
