Job Description

The Department of Modern Languages & Classics has a full-time Assistant Lecturer of Japanese contract faculty position available for the 2022-2023 academic year. The teaching load is 12 credit hours in three or four language classes in Japanese each semester. The primary emphasis for contract faculty is excellence in language teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching- Teaching load is 12 credit hours in three or four language classes in Japanese each semester. Teaching assignment will generally include introductory as well as intermediate level courses. Service – Demonstrate willingness to participate in departmental activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the department chairperson.

Salary Range: $42,00-$46,000

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher in Japanese or appropriate related field from an accredited institution. Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Japanese or appropriate related field from an accredited institution.
Evidence of successful Japanese language teaching at the college level. Strong commitment to teaching Japanese to undergraduates.
