Job Description
POSITION: PROFESSIONAL SERVICES SPECIALIST 3/COUNSELOR LOCATION: VP Student Affairs (Pre-College Programs) Reporting to the leadership of Pre-College Programs and leadership within the office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Pre-College Programs Counselor will provide counseling and academic advisement to young scholars participating in the Pre-College program and foster meaningful relationships among participants, families, and educators that enhance engagement, academic performance, and the overall pre-college experience while adhering to established policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth by program leadership, the university, and the New Jersey Department of Higher Education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited college/university with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, or a related field. Master’s in related field strongly preferred. EXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience and demonstrated ability in the following: multitasking and prioritizing student success outcomes, deadlines, and operations; counseling, mentoring, and/or advising; developing relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders; facilitating opportunities and access to quality education for underrepresented youth; adhering to protocols, policies, and regulations; working with a diverse population within a higher education setting.
