Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director, Business Operations, the incumbent oversees all payroll, pertinent personnel transactions, and related documents for over 300 Beach Building Services employees (permanent, temporary, full-time, part-time, intermittent, and student) in an effective and efficient manner.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Proven experience producing reports using various software programs. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills. Proven ability to accurately track and evaluate data. Ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills. Ability to adapt to changing situations and prioritize work assignments. Working knowledge in PeopleSoft. Ability to make decisions and take initiative in solving problems and suggesting alternate solutions in streamlining processes.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience required.

  • Experience creating and managing operational systems.

  • Payroll or HR experience preferred.
    Licenses / Certificates

    Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month
    Benefits

    Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
    Time Base

    Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
