- Responsible for developing institutional financial aid and scholarship policy, philosophy, and procedures, in support of institutional goals and in compliance with applicable regulations. Provide visionary leadership in developing operational efficiencies and collaborative partnerships.
- Responsible for creating and implementing a strategic plan with an emphasis in high quality communication and use of advanced technological systems and tools that promote excellent customer service and supports a diverse student population.
- Lead a team that successfully processes over 60,000 applications each academic year, responsible for proper training of staff and management of personnel issues to ensure operational effectiveness.
Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate effective financial aid strategies in support of institutional goals and in compliance with applicable policy and regulations. Ability to interpret the intent of legislation and regulations and conceptualize organizational goals that reflect the mission of the University and a national higher education perspective. Ability to manage and lead complex projects, knowledge of project management methodology and tools, strategic planning, and workload management. Ability to direct complex tasks and multiple simultaneous projects of a diverse nature. Ability to work effectively with peers, faculty, students, and subordinates.
Ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse communities. Ability to effectively lead a large team including the supervision, management, and motivation of staff. Understanding and experience or education in the use of technology in the accomplishment of project objectives. Thorough knowledge of student information systems especially imaging, and financial aid functionality. Ability to manage the functional needs of complex automated systems in support of financial aid programs. Knowledge and experience managing financial aid functions Ability to develop, interpret and apply academic and administrative policy, procedures, and rules. Ability and experience creating and implementing student-centered programs and services to meet student and institutional needs. Ability to delegate authority, provide direction and guidance.
Ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions and obtain facts on which decisions or recommendations may be made. Treats all customers (students, faculty, and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision.
Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor. Ensures quality, usability, and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience required. Master's degree with preparation in relevant areas preferred.
