The Department of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of English, specializing in U. S. Latinx Literature and Culture, beginning Fall 2022. In addition to demonstrated expertise in Latinx Literature and Culture, areas of focus might include Hemispheric Studies, Black Studies, Indigenous Studies, Film and Media Studies, Theater and Performance Studies, Environmental Studies, or Gender and Sexuality Studies. The successful applicant will demonstrate a research agenda of substantial promise and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body. The teaching load is 2-2. Located in the heart of Chicago, the UIC English Department is home to a wide variety of student programs and award-winning faculty research and writing. We are the largest humanities major at UIC, and offer MA and PhD programs in English Studies, Creative Writing, and English Education.
