Job Description

POSITION: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

LOCATION: OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Director in the administration of the major components of the program, supervises the counseling staff, assists in the management of the non-counseling staff, and upholds the guidelines of the program in accordance with university procedures and EOF guidelines & regulations.

DUTIES:

  • Assists the Director in establishing and evaluating Program’s goals and activities, and develops policies and procedures in accordance with the University’s goals, and objectives.

  • Assists the Director with preparing the academic year program budget request, and monitors budgetary expenditures to ensure sound fiscal management of appropriated funds.

  • Compiles and summarizes statistical and other data for the Director and assists the Director in preparing the program expenditure reports.

  • Prepares reports and studies with recommendations for the Director, the University and EOF/OSHE.

  • Evaluates program operations and performance and recommends changes to the Director as required.

  • Administers and interprets applicable federal and state laws and regulations that impact the University/Program and translates them into policies and operating procedures.

  • Under the guidance of the Director, supervises the professional staff and directs the work operations of the office.

  • Develops performance standards, reviews and makes performance evaluations, provides guidance and counsel to staff, assists the Director in approval of various personnel actions required within the program including promotions, hiring, and disciplinary action in accordance with University policies and state regulations.

  • Advises and counsels students and families regarding Program offerings, activities, and services. Provides guidance and assistance in response to problems that may arise.

  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with University administrators, faculty and staff, students and student organizations, government and private agencies and/or public in order to accomplish the objectives of the Program.

  • Maintains integrity and appropriate confidentiality in Program operations.

  • Participates in conferences, seminars and meetings representing the Director as required.

  • Prepares and supervises the preparation of detailed correspondence and coordinates the maintenance of essential records and files.

  • Initiates and plans student and professional conferences, seminars, and workshops.

EDUCATION: Masters Degree

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 years
