Job Summary

Assist the Director in providing leadership, strategic planning and operational oversight of the Student Life and Development department.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in the administration of the department and supervision of professional staff.
  • Design and implement educational leadership programs and activities to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Monitor, advise, and develop student organizations using a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) framework.
  • Coordinate special projects related to departmental mission and strategic priorities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of student development theory, student leadership development, and ability to apply theory to practice.

  • Must have demonstrated counseling and mediation skills experience handling sensitive matters involving groups or individuals with tact and discretion.

  • Must have demonstrated experience problem-solving across university departments.

  • Must have experience with onsite monitoring of complex student programs with large attendance.

  • An understanding of and commitment to serve the mission of the University, including but not limited to our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, access, and student success.

  • Experience serving historically underrepresented, low-income, first generation, traditionally disenfranchised, and differently abled populations in diverse environments.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
    Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and four years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

  • Three years of experience working with campus clubs & organizations, fraternity & sorority life, and/or clubs sports highly preferred.
    Physical Summary
    • Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: $5,732 - $6,400 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,732 - $8,176 per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
    Duration of Appointment
