The Ball State University Rinker Center for Global Affairs is seeking a Director of Study Abroad. We are looking for a dynamic, cutting edge leader to direct our Study Abroad and International Education Programs. This individual will support and advance the international mission and strategic goals of Ball State University, as well as promote and help manage study abroad programs, international exchanges, and other activities.

Position Function: Oversee the leadership, management and operation of the Study Abroad Programs for Ball State, which includes facilitation of student participation into BSU and non-BSU programs; support to faculty on preparation, budget development, risk management, and implementation of study abroad programs. Work with Colleges and departments in the recruitment of faculty and students for Study Abroad Programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. At least five years of professional experience working with international education; at least three years of supervisory experience.
Minimum Other: Understanding of transfer credit, academic and financial policies governing study abroad programs and student advising. Experience living, studying, working or traveling abroad. Knowledge of international education programs. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills. Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment and sensitivity to cultural differences.
Preferred Qualifications: Six years of supervisory experience. At least three years experience in a study abroad leadership position. Experience as the primary point of contact for emergency situations during study abroad programs, during the execution of crisis management and campus protocols. Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Budgetary and financial management skills. Ability to learn, use, and optimize a variety of computer software and database programs. Experience with Terra Dotta is a plus.
