Dean, College of Professional and Continuing Education
California State University Long Beach (CSULB) seeks an inspirational leader who possesses the academic, financial, and strategic acumen to execute collaborative and transparent leadership for the present and future of the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPaCE). The Dean is expected to begin in the summer of 2022.

The College of Professional and Continuing Education offers a diverse range of degrees, professional development certificates, and international education opportunities. Working closely with CSULB, business, community, and international partners, CPaCE also serves California's workforce and economy. It offers new and innovative pathways for students to achieve their personal, professional and occupational goals; and helps business and industry keep pace with the ever-changing needs for a skilled workforce. Under the leadership of the President and direct supervision of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief administrative and academic officer for CPaCE programs. The Dean provides leadership and vision for the College in concert with academic colleges and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementating self-support degree programs, summer sessions, May and Winter intersessions as well as professional development certificate programs at CSULB. The Dean advises the President and Provost in building strong strategic partnerships with greater Long Beach and Los Angeles business, industry and community organizations. The Dean will execute the college's operational agenda through an equity, diversity and inclusion lens. Among the initiatives in support of key growth strategies identified in the Beach 2030 strategic plan, the Dean will develop fully self-support degree completion programs as well as non-credit workforce development programs to serve adult learners of diverse backgrounds.

Units reporting to the Dean include: The Center for International Trade and Transportation; the American Language Institute, International Training Programs Office, Academic Degree Programs Department; Summer, Winter and May Sessions, Open University, Office of Workforce and Professional Development; Business and Financial Services; Student Services Center; and Information Technology Services.

Among the required qualifications for the Dean are a demonstrated record of interweaving the CSULB's values of social justice, social mobility, and inclusivity into professional and continuing education; an earned doctorate or comparable terminal degree from a regionally accredited university; successful university teaching experience, service, and a record of scholarly/creative activity suitable for a tenured, full professor faculty appointment in one of the disciplines of the university; extensive experience and demonstrated effectiveness leading the development and delivery of market-responsive, self-support extension programs.
