The MIT Office of the Dean for Student Life (DSL) LGBTQ+ Services seeks an Assistant Dean to provide strategic direction and leadership to the work of LBGTQ+ Services, Womxn, and Gender which supports numerous students and student organizations at MIT in order to foster equity, intersectionality, and the continuum of social justice. From individual student support to organizational development and institutional policy advocacy, will ensure that LBGTQ+ Services, Womxn, and Gender's support, programming, and educational endeavors aim to enhance the experiences of marginalized gender identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations of those at MIT. These communities include womxn, LBGTQ+, transgender, and non-binary individuals. Will oversee budgets for the designated area, advance policy development, encourage faculty and staff involvement, develop and coordinate programmatic initiatives, conduct assessment of student learning outcomes, and champion fund-raising initiatives. While the focus of the position is working with students, the AD may occasionally become involved in work related to their areas of expertise that affect the MIT community at large.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Five years’ related experience.
  • Proven knowledge and a track record of successfully addressing issues in the gender, womxn, trans, nonbinary, and LBGTQ+ communities.
  • Experience with supervision of staff, budget oversight, and fund-raising.
  • Leadership training and student organization advising experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education or closely related field.

Salary range is $75 - 90,000, depending on experience.
