Job Description
The Ball State University Computer Science department is seeking to hire TWO one-year contract positions, to teach courses in the computer science major. Our newly updated curriculum will launch this Fall, and we are looking for two contract faculty to facilitate that expansion. Our department has 15 faculty dedicated to supporting our student’s growth from introductory computer science courses through our one-year capstone experience. Our newly updated curriculum focuses on building a solid foundational core in the first two years of instructions, followed by a choice of concentrations for the final semesters of instruction. Concentrations include: Web & Mobile App Development, Cybersecurity & Secure Software Design, Game Design & Development, Data Analytics & Machine Learning, and General Computer Science.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach 12 credit hours of Computer Sciences courses each term (Fall and Spring), in our primarily on-campus computer science program; occasional online courses may be assigned. Contribute materials to assessment activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, data analytics, or related field from an accredited university by date of appointment; effective written and oral communication skills; evidence of potential for excellence in pedagogical innovation.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching computer science introductory classes; additional experience teaching cybersecurity, data science, or upper-level computer science courses; experience with programming languages such as Python, and/or Java; additional knowledge in web application development, computer game design, cybersecurity, or applied data analytics; experience in online instruction.
