Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Provost, the Director will develop strategies to increase engagement in career development for students from all backgrounds, majors, and disciplines; will cultivate relationships with prospective and current employers from the region and the country; will work closely with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, and Enrollment Management; and will oversee the operations, budget and growth of all things related to career development. Builds and sustains funding to support a vision that provides every NJCU student with high quality career preparation.

DUTIES:

● Develops and provides career development offerings for NJCU students and implements integrated practices.

● Creates and implements scaled career development solutions which are integrated throughout the curricular and co-curricular experiences of students at NJCU.

● Hires, trains, and oversees a creative, collaborative team which seeks to impact the campus community and external partners through innovative and strategic solutions.

● Leverages current and new technologies to scale impact, increase accessibility, and integrate into the campus ecosystem.

● Ensures that adequate data, narratives, and report structures are in place.

● Creates data informed narratives and develops effective strategies to engage with all students throughout their student experience.

● Promotes opportunities for students and the campus overall, with a focus on the immediate geographic region.

  • Represents NJCU to industries and sectors in the greater New Jersey area, the Northeast region, and to the nation.

● Fosters opportunities for engagement with NJCU, from experiential learning, employment opportunities, research connections, and potential funding.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of five years of experience within the field of career development, higher education, recruitment, or other relevant fields and experience leading teams, which includes the supervision of professional and clerical staff.

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in higher education, business administration, or related field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven track record of integrating career initiatives across campus.
  • Demonstrated success building strong partnerships with external constituents.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring and mentoring new student and professional staff.
  • Experience interacting with vendors to assess career technology needs at scale.
