Under the general direction of the Director of Academic Technology Support Services, the Instructional Learning Spaces Coordinator provides pedagogical, design and technical support/training for faculty using student centered, technology-rich learning spaces (classrooms), both virtual, and face to face. The incumbent helps plan, and develop pedagogically effective teaching environments, that best meet the curriculum need, and student learning outcomes, in multiple modalities such as online, hybrid, hyflex, flipped, and face to face. The position includes assistance in strategic planning, faculty development, and end-user technical training in technology-enhanced learning spaces supported by Classroom Support Services (CSS). The position has specific faculty development and technical support coordination responsibilities for CSULB Active Learning Classrooms (ALCs), Lecture Capture, Remote Learning, and Hyflex Classrooms. The incumbent will be responsible to assist in the research, exploration, pilot-testing, implementation, and support of new and innovative technologies, and tools to enhance teaching virtually and face to face.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of instructional design and the technology-enhanced design process. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with student-centered learning and learning theories; outcomes based curricular design and program development; technology-enhanced teaching and learning including learning management systems, webinars, video conferencing; eportfolios; lecture capture; and technology used in instructional efforts enhancing teaching and learning. Ability to recognize and understand federal and state access laws that relate to making instructional materials accessible in accordance with the California State University's Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI). Expert knowledge of effective instructional uses of a learning management system such as Desire2Learn. Knowledge of current copyright regulations and intellectual property concepts as they relate to the academic environment. Working knowledge of multiple computer operating systems i.e., Mac and Windows. Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of management, faculty, staff, and students by establishing and maintaining effective working relations. Ability to describe complicated technology topics in a non-technical manner and maintain confidentiality. Comprehensive understanding of educational environments, especially related to the role of technology in all aspects of these environments. Familiarity of multimedia development, MS Office products, wireless technologies, basic to advanced web-enhanced, blended, online development, and graphic software packages. Possess excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills, flexibility, good customer service attitude, attention to detail, and be able to work collaboratively. An ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks is essential. Work must be completed on-site. Must be able to conduct workshops during the days, evenings and Saturdays. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of various forms of multimedia such as DVD, Streaming Video, and other digital media. Knowledge and experience in the use and implementation of immersive technologies (eg: AR, VR, XR) to enhance teaching and learning. Demonstrated experience in project management. Demonstrated experience in supervision.

- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field and two years of related experience required.
- A master's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science or related field.
- Higher education experience preparing and delivering faculty and staff training in a variety of formats.
- Experience teaching blended and online courses.
- Five years of related professional experience in designing, developing and reviewing technology enhanced face-to-face and/or online courses that must have included:
- Working with subject matter experts
- Working with a learning management system, preferably Desire2Learn
- Experience in course development, course conversions, and online delivery
- Demonstrated understanding of learning theory and instructional systems design
- Demonstrated ability with course design, and multimedia skills
Technology Support Services
The salary range for this classification is $4,372 to $10,792 per month.
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Full-time temporary position for three years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
