Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs


California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs (AVPFA). The AVPFA serves as a member of the Provost's senior staff to provide leadership for initiatives within the Division of Academic Affairs, particularly regarding Unit 3 (instructional and librarian faculty, coaches, Unit 3 counselors, and academic administrators) and Unit 11 (teaching associates, graduate assistants, and instructional student assistants) employees. The AVPFA oversees implementation of all faculty personnel processes, policies, and procedures; gives counsel and advice to the Provost on all faculty personnel matters; and provides leadership in developing new faculty personnel policies and procedures for the campus. The AVPFA provides leadership, oversight, and management of the Department of Academic Employee Relations, the Faculty Center for Professional Development, and several professional staff. The AVPFA regularly reviews Faculty Affairs processes and other processes affecting Unit 3 and Unit 11 employees toward the goal of efficiency, maximum responsiveness, and equity. The new AVPFA is expected to take office in July of 2023.
