Educational and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred. Current Texas Teacher Certification. Six years’ experience in a related field with five or more years of leadership experience in Texas public schools. Prefer instructional coaching experience across levels and disciplines and knowledge of Texas public schools.
Nature & Purpose of Position:
Manages and oversees the Alternative Certification Program and program students for the School of Teaching and Learning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with Texas Education Agency and SBOE rules and regulations for initial teacher certification. Communicates with prospective students about admission requirements, program requirements, and expectations. Reviews, admits, and processes admission decisions to the Alternative Certification Program at Sam Houston State University. Develops and administers district and campus budgets with the business manager and university personnel based on documented program needs and estimated enrollment ensuring that operations are cost effective, and funds are managed wisely. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required including accurate and timely reports of maximum attendance to requisition textbooks. Selects, trains, and works with Assistant Clinical Professors of Mentoring and Practice
Coach staff and help identify and maintain consistency within the Alternative Certification Program. Supports Sam Houston State University teacher candidates and faculty in providing field-based opportunities with mentoring and coaching of candidates. Holds monthly meetings with Assistant Clinical Professors of Mentoring and Practice. Articulates the mission of the College of Education and School of Teaching and Learning to the community and solicits its support in realizing the mission to produce globally minded educators. Demonstrates awareness of program needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques. Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
This is a full-time, temporary, benefits eligible, grant funded position expected to end on or before 5/31/2027. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding.
