Educational and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required from a four-year College and four years of professional governmental or commercial accounting experience. Knowledge of State Accounting and/or USAS experience preferred.
Nature & Purpose of Position:
Performs all Level I duties/responsibilities and applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare adjusting entries, reconciliation’s, and financial reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or some of the primary accountabilities listed below. Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems and accounting controls. Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports. Assists in the collection of and preparation of external audit materials and financial reports. Performs bank and scholarship reconciliations. Monitors and manages state appropriations. Performs various state accounting tasks including, but not limited to, preparing State Comptroller financial reports, requesting reimbursements, placing and removing warrant holds, draws and returns of state appropriations, and reconciling and correcting discrepancies between the University’s accounting system with the Unified State Accounting System. Participates actively in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, Operating Budget, and Legislative Appropriation Request. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:
Other Specifications change to: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of Banner, Cognos, and USAS preferred. Customer service-related skills as the job requires contact with multiple departments and other state agencies.
