Educational and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. Two years of relevant experience required; experience with Benefits and Banner/Ellucian is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:
Performs highly advanced specialist duties for the Human Resources Department.
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs highly advanced specialist duties. Accountable for the execution and follow through of complex and technical human resources responsibilities for the assigned functional areas of onboarding, insurance, retirement, other related benefits, and records management. May assist in other areas of Human Resources. Maintains quality customer service for assigned functional area by meeting with employees and through accurate and timely processing of documents, emails, and phone calls. Reviews electronic personnel action forms (EPAFs) to determine applicable benefit processing. Promptly and accurately responds to information requests. Prepares letters, reports, memos, and correspondence when necessary. Interprets policies and procedures. Collects, reconciles, and maintains complex data. Updates and maintains information in various databases and online systems. Provides guidance to faculty and staff within assigned areas of responsibility. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates and monitors assigned processes, programs, projects, services, events, and activities. Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Plans and coordinates events related to assigned area. Reviews applicable areas of Human Resources website for updates. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:
Requires a strong technical aptitude and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, schedule work to meet deadlines, and work efficiently with frequent interruptions. Must be able to effectively interact with university department personnel, staff, faculty, student employees, local vendors, and off campus agencies. Handles sensitive and confidential personnel issues as normal course of activities. Position requires skills in completing forms and processes, sending e-mail, composing letters, preparing onboarding and training materials and reports. Performs research and prepares analytical reports, together with recommendations, on assigned subjects. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and across the university community. Requires independent judgment and initiative. Requires a level of skill with computers and modern office equipment. Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Must have the ability to review internal procedures and make suggestions for process improvement. Position requires the ability to provide onboarding sessions in person and by zoom. Position may require travel to other campuses for training or onboarding meetings as needed by the department.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
