Educational and Experience Requirement:

Associates degree and two years of related experience, or High School/GED with four years of related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with report-writer software preferred. Bilingual preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Provides administrative support in assigned functional areas of the Human Resources (HR) Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs work requiring the application of broad standards, general instructions, or professional practices to frequently changing situations to support management in the following areas: insurance and retirement benefits; scanning and indexing HR records; completing state service, education, and other verifications; processing electronic Personnel Action Forms and employee new hire documents. May assist in other areas of HR as needed, including work in the reception area answering phones and greeting/assisting visitors. Determines work priorities, evaluates work in progress, and ensures the meeting of deadlines. Acts as a liaison with other departments on matters related to own department or section. Responsible for reports and other related HR activities, such as, but not limited to: HRIS, insurance data entry, new employee orientation, and special projects, as required. Maintains the HR website information. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and other university departments, vendors, and off campus agencies on procedural and policy matters. Performs research and prepares analytical reports, and provides recommendations on assigned subjects. Handles sensitive and difficult personnel issues as a normal course of activities. Requires independent judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and time management skills. Requires a level of skill with modern office equipment and the ability to type.

Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
