Educational and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Two years relevant specialist experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:
Performs highly advanced specialist duties for the Graduate & Professional School.
Primary Responsibilities:
Academic Success and Co-Curricular Programming: Development of writing accountability programming to include targeted coaching, Design and facilitate workshops and discussions on relevant topics, collaborate with campus partners, and provide guidance and counsel, oversee, and develop programs and services, analyze effectiveness, and make recommendations for future programs.
Graduate Writing Lab: Provides individual project management services from initiation/planning through the execution and delivery of final writing goal ensuring a successful project.
Thesis and Dissertation Boot Camps: Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement dissertation and thesis on-site focused writing weekends, collect, maintain, and utilize assessment data to build relationships, track and improve student persistence and program completion.
Online/Distance Learning Coaching Community: Develop and implement interactive instruction across technology platforms to promote an online writing community.
Strategic Planning and Reporting: Structure and implement tracking system for outreach, yield rate, student academic performance and writing project completion rates, Identify and evaluate data needs for program growth and assessment by working in Banner, creating, and running Cognos reports, developing Qualtrics surveys, maintaining databases of all programming participants, surveying programs for effectiveness and strategic planning, and maintaining regular contact with student attendees.
Communications: The position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will work with other campus administrators, faculty, and staff of the university community and also with prospective students, family members, alumni, and friends of the university. The position requires a professional appearance and manner, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. It also requires a high level of self-direction and motivation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:
Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement. Position requires work at events during evening hours and on the weekend as needed by the department.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
