Educational Requirements for the Position

Associates Degree in related field. Three years related experience. Experience recruiting and/or working with international students at a university preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced specialist duties for the department of International Programs.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for the recruitment of international students. Coordinates programing for current international students throughout the semester. Responsible for translating the goals and values of the University to all categories of prospective students. Assists international students transition into the University, keeps the University aware of changing characteristics of international students, and secures students who can best profit from educational opportunities offered by the University. Visits Community Colleges, and organizations as part of the international student recruiting effort. Assists in developing marketing strategies for the recruitment of international students and short-term programs. Assists in coordinating campus visit requests and tours of the campus by potential students and parents. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) to assist the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) when needed. Assists in developing policies and interprets policies and procedures. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports on the International Program. Prepares, reviews, revises and distributes documents and correspondence. Works closely with Admissions to conduct transcripts evaluations for international student applicants. Assist SHSU colleges/departments with organizing short and/or special programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Considerable knowledge of current immigration rules and regulations.

Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
