Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator, New Student Initiatives. The Program Coordinator, New Student Initiatives helps plan and administer the summer orientation program and also year-round welcome, transition and retention programs for new students and their families. The Coordinator plans, implements and assesses programs to promote success for first-year and transfer students, including first-generation and underrepresented students and other special populations.

The Program Coordinator, New Student Initiatives, works with the established and emerging programs, such as the Success Series (First Year Experience) and Orientation program, within the New Student Initiatives (NSI) office, in the Associate Dean of Students Office - Student Life Services (SLS). The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of all aspects of the new student orientation program as it relates to creating a strong persistence and college graduation culture. Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, selection and training of Orientation staff, facilitation and presentation of orientation topics and panels, and orientation logistics; transfer student transition program; Wolf Pack Welcome; and the first-year success series. Additionally, the Program Coordinator assists with hiring, training and supervising all student staff, including desk assistants and student coordinators. The position reports to the Assistant Director, NSI.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR

Master's Degree one (1) year of related work experience.

Related Experience: in college student development, retention and persistence programs, educational leadership, or related area.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
