Job Summary
This position is responsible for the administration and oversight of the staff/MPP leave of absence (LOA) and accommodations programs as well as emergency leave and related Employee Relations (ER) programs (e.g., COVID leaves, temp telecommuting and related systems implementations). Provides employee-relations consultations to ASMs and campus leadership. Supervises a leaves analysts and student assistants. Serves as key manager in LOA/Accommodations & ER initiatives such as staff repopulation, counseling ASMs on related issues, conducting investigations, taking employee intake meetings, preparing summary reports of issues for HRM and campus leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Leave of Absence programs for MPP and staff positions including COVID Programs and all paid and unpaid leave programs.
- Workplace Accommodation programs for MPP and staff positions including ADA, religion, veterans and lactation room accommodations.
- Employee Relations Programs and ASM Support
Thorough knowledge of general human resources practices and campus procedures and policies. Thorough knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, and other leave-related laws and policies. General knowledge of ADA workplace accommodations. Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond to requests for guidance in a timely manner.
HR enterprise system knowledge and experience required (e.g., PeopIeSoft)
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize work assignments. Ability to read and interpret collective bargaining agreements and ensure programs are in compliance with requirements. Ability to identify issues and resolve according to policy, regulations and/or collective bargaining agreement requirements, and to escalate issues appropriately. Ability to effectively evaluate, train and lead team
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to apply excellent English grammar, spelling and punctuation skills to trainings, employee/manager communications, process guides.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible HR experience. Leave of absence experience and employee relations experience required. Supervisory experience required.

Anticipated hiring range: Up to $6,792/month.
The classification range for this position is: $5,460 - $8,190 month
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
