Educational Requirements for the Position
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Two years of experience in communications, public relations, office work or a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced coordinator duties for the Division of University Advancement.

Primary Responsibilities

Welcomes donors, alumni, and guests to the Office of University Advancement. Maintains contact with university departments, personnel, and outside agencies and individuals with careful focus and attention dedicated to managing relationships with key alumni and donors. Communicates (both written and oral) with departments and other stakeholders. Oversees project needs, discern work priorities, and meets deadlines with little supervision. Plans and manages logistics and multiple projects in support of the Vice President of University Advancement office, in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Works with people and establishes good rapport with Sam Houston State University (SHSU) administrators, faculty, staff and University donors and alumni. Forges effective relationships within the division and across the campus. Assists with University Advancement events. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Must have excellent interpersonal communication and phone skills, demonstrated organizational ability, and a focus on details and quality control. Must be a take-charge professional with the ability to plan and manage logistics and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Must work well with people.

Some after hours and weekend work required.
