Job Description

POSITION AVAILABLE: July 1, 2022

JOB SUMMARY: To order and process all information materials and supplies for Library, keep track of all inventory items and handle appropriate documentation for adding, withdrawing and/or transferring of items, to keep track of Library statistics, including library circulation statistics, assist Library Director with budget including student payroll and in helping to form library policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve on library and/or university committees, contribute to state and regional committees, and participate in professional organizations and activities.
  • Keep all library statistics including circulation records and assist Library Director in compiling annual reports and IPEDS Academic survey as well as keeping track of inventory items, handling all appropriate transfer or withdrawal documentation.
  • Assists Library Director in maintaining Library Budget.
  • Orders all informational materials and supplies under direction of Library Director.
  • Assist in supervision of the circulation desk in the absence of Access Services Librarian
  • Train and supervise student library staff members within specific areas of responsibility.
  • Complete and deliver all appropriate forms regarding absence from library duty, request for vacation leave, absence reports, travel requests, etc. as required by university and library policies. Oral and written communication should confirm approval or disapproval of such request.
  • Answer reference questions and assist library users individually when the reference librarian is not available.
  • Assist library users by providing reference assistance when performing duties as librarian-in-charge during evening and weekend hours.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year.
  • Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned by Library Director or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of emerging information technologies including distance education support.
  • Professional training or education in the areas of MS software and main operating systems software.
  • Continued training in ILS software upgrades and maintenance (Webinars, on-site training in and out of state).
  • Commitment to continued professional growth and education.
