This position is located in the Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, Washington, District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Administrative Specialist supporting two offices within the Services division and to provide support to a variety of administrative and office management functions.

  • Performs special assignments, duties, and projects for the business units, utilizing administrative office functions.
  • Serves as the offices' administrative specialist in support of all administrative functions for the office staff, both internal and external to the Federal Government.
  • Performs a wide variety of administrative functions within the immediate offices; including prioritizing workflow, ensuring all administrative actions are processed in accordance with appropriate regulations and responding to inquiries, etc.
  • Independently exercises a degree of initiative, tact, diplomacy, and persuasion to anticipate and provide for organizational needs.
  • Develops, improvises, and implements formal procedures and administrative controls.
  • Determines the importance of requests for information.
  • Ensures that the practices and procedures used by subordinate offices are consistent with those of supervisors.
  • Collects, assembles, and briefs the supervisors on administrative information obtained by contacting officials of various offices.
