Educational Requirements for the Position
Bachelor’s degree required. Two years relevant administrative office experience or experience in a related field. Prior experience working in a medical school or higher education preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Serves the SHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine by coordinating the development and implementation of a wide array of the college’s accreditation and assessment initiatives.
Serves as a front-line expert in the use of evaluation software (e.g., Qualtrics and DaVinci Leo) and acts as the primary point of contact for accreditation and evaluation services. Provides assistance to administration, faculty and staff in accessing, reporting and posting required evidence. Works with staff and accrediting organizations to schedule and facilitate on-site accreditation visits. Coordinates the collection and organization of program evaluation and accreditation evidence. Works with faculty and staff to schedule and administer the evaluation of faculty, curriculum and facilities. Assists faculty and staff in the interpretation and reporting of outcomes data. Assists in developing and facilitating accreditation and evaluation workshops. Reviews Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standards, policies, procedures and expectations. Makes recommendations for the collection and reporting of evidence as required by accreditors. Enters outcome data into electronic databases and generates reports pursuant to continuous improvement. Works with a variety of stakeholders including administrators, staff, basic science faculty, clinical faculty, students, regulatory agencies, and members of the community to capture indicators of the medical education program and its improvement efforts as required by accreditors. Coordinates accreditation, evaluation, and related activities locally and remotely. Collects, reconciles, and maintains complex data. Applies detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Prepares financial and statistical reports. Plans and coordinates events related to accreditation and evaluation. Monitors budgets, accounts, and expenditures. Coordinates and implements departmental processes. Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Processes large volumes of data entry with speed and accuracy. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Coordinates with multiple vendors for returns and problem reconciliation. Ability to handle large volumes of data entry with speed and accuracy is critical. Work requires the ability to perform work of considerable complexity which involves working independently towards general results, devising new work methods, interpreting policy, or meeting new conditions necessitating a high degree of ingenuity, initiative, and judgment. Must be able to work collaboratively with coworkers and provide a high level of customer service at all times. May devote from 25% to 50% of time to routine contacts by telephone with employees of other work units in obtaining or supplying information relating to work. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement. Attention and care are required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self or others.
