Ball State University is seeking a Payroll and Tax Accountant to join our team in the Controller’s Office. The university offers excellent benefits and generous time off.

Position Function:
Provide accurate and timely financial information for a diversity of users; maintain the integrity of the university’s financial records; perform bank and general ledger reconciliations; update the university chart of accounts; provide training and assist in developing training materials to use in formal and non-formal training environments; and provide outreach to departments to improve processes and implement best practices. Assist with tax reporting, and with retiree health and life calculations and reporting. Work with international students to help obtain ITIN for tax filing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related financial field from an accredited institution. At least two years of financial accounting, fund accounting, or audit experience. Superior proficiency with Excel; excellent problem solving skills; ability to communicate difficult concepts; ability to work independently as well as contribute as a member of a team; must be analytical, highly organized, and detail oriented; ability to learn new software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting; CPA. Knowledge of Banner systems with an emphasis on Banner Finance; experience in university or fund accounting
