Educational Requirements for the Position

Bachelor’s degree in health-related field. Master’s degree in health, business, or analytics -related field preferred. Three years of experience in higher education-based healthcare professional program or closely related field. Previous experience working directly with prospective and enrolled students and working directly with faculty and curricular issues preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

This position is located at The Woodlands Campus.

Nature & Purpose of Position

The Enrollment Planning and Assessment Coordinator (EPAC) oversees and manages enrollment planning and assessment areas of function in the School of Nursing. Enrollment planning includes operational aspects of marketing, recruiting, admissions, enrollment, advising, progression and retention, graduation, and alumni relations. Assessment includes operational aspects of program evaluation, educational assessment, and continuous quality improvement.


Primary Responsibilities

Works in close collaboration with centralized SHSU and College of Health Sciences (COHS) services and School of Nursing (SON) faculty and administration. Oversees and supports marketing, recruitment, admissions, enrollment, advising, progression and retention, graduation, and alumni relations activities in the SON. Coordinates with SON committees and operations to implement strategic enrollment planning in the SON. Supervises SON Academic Advisors. Works collaboratively with the SON administration and SHSU assessment and evaluation units. Establishes and supports a culture of continuous improvement focused on the SON’s mission and strategic plan. Leads in the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems characterized by data-dependence, high-reliability cyclic assessment and evaluation activities, and methodical tracking of change/improvement efforts. Oversees, supports, monitors, and continuously improves school-wide assessment and evaluation plans to meet accreditation, regulation, SHSU, and other external stakeholder reporting requirements in collaboration with SON faculty and administration. Coordinates and collaborates with SON faculty and administration to create reports, self-studies, and other products designed to meet regulatory, accreditation, and other external stakeholder requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedule-driven academic processes. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and write technical reports. Demonstrated ability to manage large and complex databases. Experience working with diverse student or customer groups. Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies and procedures. Requires knowledge of State of Texas terms and conditions and clauses required for contracts. Requires knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement. Must have independent judgement and be confident in being a final decision maker or providing completed staff work to supervisors. Must be confident working with Texas State University System Legal Team in review of contracts. Ability to effectively provide oral and written communication to suppliers and campus users to negotiate contract terms and conditions is a must. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word for compilation of documents, editing and track changes.

Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
