Educational Requirements for the Position
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program (Bachelor’s degree) and current Licensure as a Physician Assistant from the Texas State Medical Board. Must have prescriptive rights. A minimum of two years of experience is required; experience in ambulatory care and care of patients 18-30 would be preferred. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
NURSE PRACTICIONER, ADVANCED:
Graduation (Master’s Degree) from an approved nursing school/university in advanced practitioner nursing, current RN Licensure from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, and registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Practitioners. Must have prescriptive rights. A minimum of two years of experience is required; experience in ambulatory care and care of patients 18-30 would be preferred. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Provides primary health care services on a college campus by evaluating, treating, and managing medical problems. The clinic also offers laboratory and pharmacy and is set up to provide minor procedural services.
Primary Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the clinical care team. Examines, evaluates, diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions in a concise and expeditious manner according to established protocol standards of care and physician oversight. Specifically, assesses, interprets, evaluates patient status and formulates and initiates a health care plan. Initiates patient communication and education as well as referral and urgent care. Consults with and provides guidance for nursing staff and ancillary employees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
