Educational and Experience Requirement
Earned doctorate or terminal degree, a record of high quality performance as an educator, evidence of scholarly achievement, and ability in administration at college or university level. Must demonstrate managerial skills and an understanding of disciplines which comprise the College of Criminal Justice (COCJ). Previous administrative experience required, preferably at the rank of tenured full professor in COCJ at Sam Houston State University.

Nature & Purpose of Position
The Associate Dean is a 12-month position in the Dean’s Office of the College of Criminal Justice (COCJ) that is a critical member of the college’s administrative leadership team and participates in university-wide initiatives. Assists the Dean of the College in dealing with the needs of faculty, staff, and students at the College and providing oversight and evaluation for premium distance learning (PDL) college-wide initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides strategic leadership in college-level initiatives, assists with faculty, staff, and student issues, and facilitates COCJ assessment activities related to distance learning. Provides administrative leadership and strategic direction in the areas of PDL initiative. Provides administrative management and oversight of subject matter experts within the PDL program to include oversight, hiring, and supervision. Identifies and creates opportunities for cross-collaborative partnerships for various colleges as it relates to the PDL. Oversees multi-year planning and implementation of additional phases of project. Develops and monitors performance metrics to assess the progress in implementing project. Manage and implement additional projects and initiatives as requested by Dean/Director of COCJ. Performs other related duties as assigned.
