Educational Requirements for the Position

Associates Degree in related field. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs complex administrative assistant duties for the Associate Dean for Student Success and Partnerships in the College of Education. Helps to support the Associate Dean for Accountability and Educator Preparation Services in the College of Education.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs high level administrative support assignments as directed by the Associate Dean. Conducts research as may be required for preparation and dissemination of information. Plans and coordinates appointments, events, workshops, meetings, conferences, etc. Prepares reports and maintains adequate records to include the collection, processing and disbursement of curriculum reports. Acts as liaison between University departments, students, faculty, administrator, staff, and distinguished guests to facilitate the goals and mission of the College of Education-Teacher Education. Manages Associate Dean’s budget including O&M, the Sam Houston Partnership and Schools (SHIPS), and University Supervisors which includes travel, supply and food orders. This position is also instrumental in hiring staff and student assistants and submitting the necessary documents as part of the hiring process. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Communicates with other University departments, local vendors, and off-campus agencies. The position involves financial management for multiple accounts in the departments of Teacher Education, the Sam Houston Partnership and Schools (SHIPS), Educator Preparation Services, Certification, and the Office of the Associate Dean. Conducts staff development and training.
